This class is designed for First and Second Graders. I have found it so rewarding to teach the cultural history and styles of these landscapes, while I integrate the art concepts of horizon lines, stacked composition, atmosphere, and brush technique in watercolor. After years of watching my younger students knock over their water containers onto their paper, I decided to take a Zen philosophy and EMBRACE the spill stains on their paper.
Now, my students learn to mix colors with intent to create a genuine connection with expression. Brown tones become warm feelings of spring, and black tones become a cold, fog on a rainy morning. What were "accidents" previously have now become our "way". Please come to this calming class and see what your young artists are capable of!
